Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities )

· Current license to practice nursing in Ohio as a registered nurse.

· Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.

· MSN, MHA, MBA or other Masters in related field preferred.

· Five to seven years progressive nursing leadership experience, broad hospital operations experience desired.

· Evidence of effective leadership and management abilities.

· Evidence of effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

· Evidence of ability to effectively develop and coach multidisciplinary teams.

· Experience in program development, product line management desired.

· Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements in relevant field.



Job Responsibilities


Essential Responsibilities

· Planning: Collaborates appropriately with Senior Leadership and the Medical Staffs to define standards and processes necessary to support optimal patient outcomes; facilitates the development and implementation of operational strategies to achieve the Organization’s strategic plan. Identifies and implements new services and programs responsive to community and other stakeholder needs.

· Performance Improvement: Establishes the direction for all Performance Improvement initiatives within the division focusing on optimal patient outcomes, patient, physician and staff satisfaction, regulatory compliance and risk management; insures compliance with all regulatory agencies including JCAHO. Demonstrates knowledge of and appropriately translates local, state and federal regulations and changes affecting divisional activities.

· Managing Performance. Oversees the personal and professional development of the management team to assure the skill set necessary to achieve the Organization’s strategic plan. Insures programs and processes are available to assess and develop competencies necessary for all designated staff to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Establishes standards of nursing practice within the organization; insures that all designated licensed personnel practice within the scope of the applicable practice act as well as approved organization policies, procedures and standards.

· Communication: Identifies and establishes effective communication processes with all stakeholders; insures that communication is effective within the division.

· Service Excellence: Develops and oversees strategies to insure optimal levels of patient, staff and physician service excellence; models and directs service culture.

· Financial Performance: Leads the development and effective implementation of the Client, capital and operating budgets in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan. Analyzes productivity and directs appropriate changes in standards, services, processes and staffing. Establishes and oversees cost reduction initiatives to achieve the organization’s strategic goals.

· Exhibits each of the Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards, role modeling excellence for all to see. For example, demonstrates friendliness and courtesy, effective communication, creates a professional environment and provides first class service.

· Holds others (Associates, Physicians and Volunteers) accountable for exhibiting each of the celebrating excellence in behavior and approaching anyone with courtesy and respect who is not demonstrating Service Excellence and owning and resolving Service Recovery concerns.





Other Job Responsibilities:



· Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the COO.

· Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.

· Participates in and coordinates with organizational process to collect and evaluate information about hazards and safety practices that are used to identify safety management issues. Adheres to established policies and procedures, which may include wearing of personal protective equipment.

· Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities
